The “Don't Judge a Bug by It's Cover" Comedy Magic Show

You think you're trying to catch a normal bug, but look again because it could be Picasso, the world's most charming (live) box turtle, dressed in his favorite bug costume. This is a unique magic show with chalk-talk stories (combines art and storytelling), costumes, and hilarious magic tricks all relating to the Catch the Reading Bug...at Your Library Theme. Lea uses assistants from the audience and lots of participation to figure out which bug is Picasso's favorite. Is he a bug or a turtle? You better not judge the bug by it's cover!  Program recommended for any combination of age 3 years – fifth grade.

Art programs are also a great way to invite your young card holders to share in educational fun at your library.

Art Program - Balloon Workshop

This is a fun, colorful, and unique way to make a summer day special. Lea, with her Bachelors in Art Education and twelve years of balloon sculpting experience, teaches the basic balloon twists and the children make and then take home their very own creations. Lea will donate an illustrated, eighty-page, beginner's manual book to the library to encourage children to continue returning to the library to learn. Lea pre-blows most balloons to maximize sculpting time. Target audience is children in grades K-6 and, for best results, please limit group sizes to thirty children. Discounts will be given if more than one workshop is needed to facilitate groups larger than thirty. (This is a really GREAT and UNIQUE program with no mess for the library! Tables and chairs are optional.)
